“I am very encouraged by our working group meetings regarding school finance with Comal and Boerne ISD. We have agreed on ideas that we feel can get passed next session, including relief for schools suffering from Robin Hood.
As I did last session, I will file bills that will help our schools. Bills filed in the 86th Session will include some of the ideas that Comal and Boerne ISD have presented, as well as, updates to school funding formulas. I will re-file my bills to give teachers a voice statewide to reform the public education system, and unfunded mandate relief for schools. The more legislators and educators that support these ideas, the better chance we will have of passing them next session.
As I have stated in the past, I support real property tax reform, specifically replacing a portion of school property tax with a consumption tax.
I want to thank Andrew Kim, Dr. Tommy Price, and their staffs for their hard work to come up with real solutions. I feel that if we continue to work together that positive change is achievable in 2019.”- State Representative Kyle Biedermann
