“While in Lare­do, I toured var­i­ous ports of entry, includ­ing the Inter­na­tion­al Bridge Cross­ings, and the immi­gra­tion facil­i­ties in Lare­do. U.S Cus­toms and Bor­der Pro­tec­tion (CBP) does an amaz­ing job inspect­ing car­go com­ing into the Unit­ed States, as well as iden­ti­fy­ing indi­vid­u­als try­ing to access the U.S. illegally. 

The num­bers of indi­vid­u­als and asy­lum seek­ers com­ing into the Unit­ed States on a dai­ly basis con­tin­ues to put a strain on our immi­gra­tion facil­i­ties, and costs Texas and the U.S hun­dreds of mil­lions of dol­lars in lost com­merce due to the drug car­tels and crim­i­nals try­ing to hide drugs in their shipments.
