“My office has been receiving a number of phone calls and emails regarding the abolishment of the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners. Unfortunately in the House, Democrats and a handful of Republicans killed this agency by voting against SB 621.
I voted to keep the Board of Plumbing in place and voted for the House to reconsider it. The vote failed by a slim margin.
At this point, with Governor Abbott stating that there will not be a special session, meaning normally the board of plumbing examiners would cease to exist on September 1, 2019. With that said, Governor Abbott tweeted that he will be able to extend the board for two years without a special session.
