FREDERICKSBURG COMMUNITY TEAMS UP TO HOST INAUGURAL VETERANS & FIRST RESPONDERS THANKSGIVING DINNER

Vol­un­teers and Dona­tions Needed!

Fred­er­icks­burg, T.X. – 09/26/2016 – Start­ing a new tra­di­tion to hon­or our vet­er­ans and first respon­ders, many in the com­mu­ni­ty are com­ing togeth­er to host the Inau­gur­al Vet­er­ans and First Respon­ders Thanks­giv­ing Din­ner on Novem­ber 19, 2016.

“I’m hon­ored to co-host this great event for our local vet­er­ans, and first respon­ders” said local Ace Hard­ware Deal­er and Texas State Rep­re­sen­ta­tive-elect Kyle Bie­der­mann. “In these times, it is espe­cial­ly impor­tant to thank our vet­er­ans and all of those who serve in uni­form. As the son of a Retired Army Colonel and the father of two Navy Active Duty Sailors, I know many of our men and women in uni­form have sac­ri­ficed and con­tributed to make our com­mu­ni­ty and our coun­try great. I’m proud to be a part of this din­ner to say thank you to hon­or these heroes and their fam­i­lies, who have sac­ri­ficed so much.”

This event is com­plete­ly free of charge and orches­trat­ed by vol­un­teers. The din­ner will have two seat­ings and is expect­ed to draw over 300 vet­er­ans and first respon­ders. Hun­dreds of local vol­un­teers will be need­ed to make this an amaz­ing event.

“God bless this awe­some com­mu­ni­ty for con­sis­tent­ly deliv­er­ing for the vet­er­ans and its  First Respon­ders. We are doing this for our vet­er­ans, our police offi­cers, our fire­fight­ers, EMS, and oth­ers as a gen­uine way to just say ‘THANKS’.  This is an oppor­tu­ni­ty for all of us in the com­mu­ni­ty to step up to the plate and return the favor for those who have served,” said Kyle Bie­der­mann. “We still need vol­un­teers and dona­tions and ask folks to vol­un­teer the day of and day before.”

The com­mu­ni­ty is asked to either donate goods, their time or make a dona­tion on behalf of the event, by con­tact­ing Pat Thomp­son at [email protected] or (512) 771‑9694, or drop­ping off canned foods at Biedermann’s Ace Hard­ware in Fred­er­icks­burg where a des­ig­nat­ed area is marked for all col­lec­tion of food.

“I am excit­ed to get involved in this event to get a great tra­di­tion start­ed.  I can’t think of a bet­ter way for our com­mu­ni­ty to come togeth­er to thank our vet­er­ans and first respon­ders that have sac­ri­ficed so much for us,” said Angela Smith. “ While we have assem­bled a won­der­ful team to help orga­nize this din­ner, this is tru­ly a com­mu­ni­ty event and we will heav­i­ly rely on the gen­eros­i­ty of com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers and our small busi­ness­es to make this all possible.”

“Thanks­giv­ing is a time for all of us to be thank­ful to all of our Veterans/First Respon­der teams and their fam­i­lies that served and are serv­ing this great nation and Com­mu­ni­ty. We will take delight in serv­ing them a deli­cious meal at the first annu­al Veterans/First Respon­ders Thanks­giv­ing Din­ner,” said Pas­tor Michael Weaver of Harper.

In addi­tion to vol­un­teers, the orga­niz­ers are seek­ing dona­tions for the Thanks­giv­ing Din­ner includ­ing:  625 meal and dessert plates, 600 drink/ cof­fee cups, 60 turkey pans, 50 uncooked turkeys (12 lbs or more), turkey gravy, cans of green beans, mashed  pota­toes, cans of corn, cans of cran­ber­ry sauce, sal­ad & Ranch sal­ad dress­ing, bags of stuff­ing, 48 oz cans of chick­en broth, pies and décor.

The event will take place on Sat­ur­day, Novem­ber 19, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Holy Fam­i­ly Cen­ter. Seat­ing times will be 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Seat­ing is lim­it­ed to the Vet­er­an or First Respon­der and one guest. Those inter­est­ed in attend­ing are asked to respond with their pre­ferred seat­ing time.
