BIEDERMANN FILES THE ALAMO HEROES ACT
March 5, 2021
AUSTIN, TX — Today, Representative Kyle Biedermann (R- Fredericksburg) filed House Bill 3013, also known as The Alamo Heroes Act. It would require all educational offerings on the site of the Alamo Complex referencing the impetus behind the move for independence to solely rely on the reasons given in the Texas Declaration of Independence.
“The City of San Antonio has supported a plan that engages in unfounded historical revisionism, and harms the heroic legacy of those who gave their lives in the pursuit of freedom,” said Representative Kyle Biedermann. “This bill is designed to combat the concerted effort to dishonor the moral character of our brave Alamo Defenders.”
On March 5th, 2020 Lt. Governor Dan Patrick echoed similar sentiments, saying, “The primary focus of the Alamo conservation and restoration must focus on the battle itself, not the 200-year history of early Spanish settlement in Texas.” He later continued, “We simply must get the Alamo preservation project right, because what we do now will be with us forever.”
