Kyle Biedermann Meets with School Administrators

July 8, 2017

school admin meeting

Fredericksburg, TX (07/08/2017) — This week, Representative Biedermann (R- Fredericksburg) met with public school officials from District 73 to discuss school finance and the special legislative session starting on July 18.

The three hour long meeting was held at the Boerne ISD administrative building and moderated by Rich Sena, president of the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees. In attendance were Superintendent  Chris Stevenson, Loretta Eckert,  and Tina Bernhard from Harper ISD,  trustees Dr. Denise Kern and Stephen Smith from Comal ISD, Superintendent Dr. Thomas Price and assistant superintendent of business and finance Tish Grill from Boerne ISD, and trustees Kerinne Herber, Dale Geistweidt, and Brian Lehne from Fredericksburg ISD.

“One of the biggest surprises to me  was the fact that the all of Robin Hood payments made by Chapter 41 schools were  not being allocated to Public Education.  I will be looking into that immediately. It is important to meet with these public school officials and to have an open and honest conversation about the different finance and budget issues facing each individual school district and possible solutions I can  bring back to Austin. The meeting was very informative for me, my staff, and all those in attendance.  I look forward to continuing to have open dialogue and constructive conversation with all of the public schools in our district,” said Representative Biedermann.

Boerne’s school board president, Rich Sena, stated, “We are grateful that Rep Biedermann visited with the school districts that are in his district to listen to the challenges we face everyday – some of which are unique to our independent districts, and some that we all have in common. We are confident it will help him prioritize his efforts in the house.”

Representative Biedermann is proud to serve the constituents of House District 73. To contact his office, email, or call (512)-463-0325.
